SAN FRANCISCO — Seemingly everything is going right for the San Francisco Giants right now, even when it comes to injury updates. It appeared their 10-game winning streak might have hit a snag in the sixth inning of their 4-2 win Wednesday night, when Mike Yastrzemski pulled up and limped into third base. But after undergoing an MRI Thursday morning, Yastrzemski said he believed he avoided the worst-case scenario and will likely avoid the injured list.Yastrzemski left the game with tightness in his left hamstring, the same one that sidelined him for the first two weeks of May, but scans revealed only some inflammation and swelling, not enough to even earn a Grade 1 designation. Yastrzemski isn’t a doctor, but he can read a room.“Everyone seemed pretty happy with it,” he said. That said, the Giants are going to play it safe with Yastrzemski, and with him limited Thursday, they recalled speedy switch-hitting outfielder Bryce Johnson from Triple-A Sacramento. Jamie Foxx promised his friend Cameron Diaz a triumphant return to movies by convincing her to co-star with him in his Netflix action-comedy “Back in Action.” Instead the project was plagued with production problems and ultimately plunged into uncertainty when filming was halted in April after Foxx was hospitalized for a mysterious “medical complication,” from which he’s reportedly still recovering.Diaz is dealing with that uncertainty herself, as well as “guilt” over how these reported production problems led to her to quarrel with Foxx on the set, a close friend of the 50-year-old actor told the Daily Mail. Diaz also hasn’t spoken to Foxx since he was hospitalized and doesn’t know what’s going on with him, “other than what she hears,” the friend said.Diaz was ready to quit acting for a second time when problems started occurring on the London set of “Back in Action” earlier this year, which include...The top nine most expensive home sales in Saratoga, reported the week of May 29

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a visit to the United States this week that has included meetings with Elon Musk and author Nassim Nicholas Taleb, among others, will meet with President Joe Biden on Thursday and be hosted at a state dinner in the evening. The trip is intended to solidify a partnership between India and the United States that has, among other goals, the intention of firming up a future U.S.-India partnership against China.Yet while Modi’s visit has been touted as the blossoming of a friendship between two of the world’s largest democracies, the rosy optics have clouded out a darker story: the increasingly grim fate of Indian political prisoners, including many well known to Western nongovernmental organizations and media establishments, under the right-wing Modi government.A long list of Indian civil society members are currently languishing in the country’s prisons. BOSTON (AP) — Eight hours. And within them, many unanswered questions. About an hour and a half after it dipped below the North Atlantic, a submersible on an expedition to view the wreckage of the Titanic lost communication with the surface. It would take another nearly eight hours before the Canadian research icebreaker Polar Prince, supporting the Titan submersible, reported it missing to the Coast Guard — a report that triggered the international rescue effort that was ongoing Thursday. The time lag has yet to be explained by the company that owns the submersible, OceanGate Expeditions. Sean Leet, head of the company that co-owns the Titan’s support ship, refused to discuss the timeline during a news conference Wednesday, saying only that “all protocols were followed for the mission.” But experts familiar with deep-sea exploration said those lost hours raise red flags.“The time delay between declaring a submersible sunk and notification to outside resources and emergency responder...Latest news
