SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — It’s lunchtime at the Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement District and a colony of sabethes cyaneus — also known as the paddle-legged beauty for its feathery appendages and iridescent coloring — find their way to Ella Branham.“They’re not very aggressive and they’re kind of picky eaters,” said Branham, a technician, as she exhaled into a glass tank to attract the insects to the carbon dioxide in her breath. “So I’ll be feeding them with my arm.”Branham had volunteered to let the South American mosquitoes feed on her blood so they can produce eggs and maintain the colony for education and research at the lab in the Salt Lake City district. MONTREAL — Moroccan Canadians are united in grief and worry after a deadly earthquake killed more than 2,000 people in the North African country.The owner of Montreal’s Café Amistad says his clients include people from all regions of Morocco, and that none have been left unmoved by the tragedy.Chorfi Zouhir says many people have spent the past day trying to get through on the phone to relatives, desperate to know if they’re OK. CHICAGO — The body of a 27-year-old Chicago man was pulled Saturday evening from Lake Michigan in Whiting, according to Indiana Conservation Officers.Around 4:10 p.m., crews were called to the Whiting Lakefront Park on the report of a man who was struggling in the water, went under and was missing. 4 men critical after Grand Crossing shooting Emergency personnel eventually found Gerardo Castaneda-Soto, 27, and took him to St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago, according to conservation officers. PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say an escaped murderer who has eluded capture since breaking out of a southeastern Pennsylvania prison a week and a half ago has apparently slipped out of the search area, changed his appearance and is now being sought in a stolen vehicle.Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement Sunday morning that Danelo Souza Cavalcante was seen overnight near Phoenixville in northern Chester County, more than 20 miles northeast of the area that until now has been the focus of the search. Shortly before noon Sunday, however, they said Phoenixville residents may no longer see a large law enforcement presence since “investigative leads have emerged that indicate Cavalcante is no longer in that area.”Cavalcante is now clean-shaven and wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, green prison pants and white shoes, police said. DUGWAY, Utah (KTVX) - A 30-minute drive into the remote Dugway Proving Grounds is a patch of desert that is expecting a unique package drop. A package that has taken 7 years to deliver.This package, rather than coming from FedEx or UPS, is coming from a near-Earth asteroid named Bennu and is being delivered by the spacecraft OSIRIS-Rex. The package is a large space capsule that holds a sample container filled with regolith (loose rocks and soil) from the asteroid’s surface.The spacecraft OSIRIS-REx—Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer—was launched on September 8, 2016, and headed out into the asteroid belt seeking to meet up with and explore Bennu. The trip to Bennu took a year and a half, and once there, the spacecraft studied the asteroid and took photos. It then landed on the asteroid for approximately 5 seconds before pushing off and snapping a few more photos.
