The Denver school board’s decision to put armed police back in schools following last week’s shooting at East High came after district leaders learned Mayor Michael Hancock planned to use executive action to force the matter, the board’s vice president alleged Monday. The mayor’s office denied the charge made by school board director Auon’tai Anderson, one of the leaders of the 2020 effort that removed police from Denver’s schools. The Board of Education voted last week to put officers back in the city’s high schools after meeting for five hours in a closed session the day after two administrators were shot and wounded at East. Denver Public Schools already had faced calls for tighter security following a shooting at East in February, in which a student was killed.During a news conference Monday, Anderson said Superintendent Alex Marrero told him and board President Xóchitl “Sochi” Gaytán last week that the decision to station police in schools R...Cody Rhodes ready to take his place in WWE WrestleMania spotlight

OAKLAND — Numerous city workers received alerts this month confirming the worst: strangers were attempting to open lines of credit on their accounts, using social security numbers hacked from the city during a ransomware attack that began Feb 8.It’s a nightmare no one would want to experience, but Oakland’s union leaders are just as concerned about the messages they say workers aren’t getting — from city leaders who have yet to offer a pathway out of the ongoing mess.Citing a lack of communication, union officials say they are now considering lawsuits to secure more extensive credit protections for the thousands of workers whose personal information was stolen last month and posted on the dark web.“The city has taken no steps; it’s just business as usual, with no interest in taking care of their workers,” said Barry Donelan, the Oakland police officers’ union president, who added his worst fear is that “a year, two years fr...Detached house sells in Palo Alto for $2.8 million
